| Seminars
Seminars
are not a requirement but are available for all to take
part in, if & when they so wish. They are an enjoyable
part of your training because they supplement and expand
upon what you learn in class. They introduce you to
a wide variety of techniques, ideas and styles. Seminars
featuring guest instructors are a tremendous opportunity
to expand your repertoire and gain a greater appreciation
for the vastness of the martial arts. We are fortunate
at CMAC Toronto to have hosted over 25 seminars that
included many of Canada's, and indeed North America's,
greatest instructors.
Demonstrations
and Trips
CMAC
members have he opportunity to participate in local
and international events. CMAC has performed demonstrations
for the 200 years Yonge Street Toronto Megacity Festival
and Canada Day celebrations. We performed during the
Beastie Boys and Edgefest concerts at Molson Park, at
The Docks Entertainment Comples, the CNE, the Chin Picnic,
as well as three Skydome demonstrations for the Toronto
Argonauts and 2 for the Toronto Blue Jays, and a Martial
Arts Spectacular at Massey Hall.
CMAC
has just taken 35 students to Japan and the itinerary
for 2000 included Mexico, New York, Australia, England,
Holland and back to Japan.
You
may not be able to do it all, but join us where you
can!
Competition
Experience
Martial
arts tournaments aren't just about winning. We encourage
participation in tournaments as a means of testing your
abilities and interacting with good will and harmony
with other Martial Artists around the world in unfamiliar
surroundings and to learn from watching and competing
against people from other dojos and organizations. Tournaments
are also exciting and fun. CMAC hosts national and international
championships, open tournaments and outdoor summer challenges
annually. CMAC was well represented at the World Karate
Championships in Argentina (1995), in Canada (1997),
and the Pan American Games, in Mexico (1997). The Canadian
team took 1st place at the 1999 America's cup in Mexico
for the first time in the competition's history.
We
went to defend the America's Cup in Puntaserena, Mexico
in January, and sent a team to Tournament 2000 that
was held at the Olympic boxing venue in Australia.
CMAC members represent Canada at the North America Goju
Ryu Championships in New Ysork City every year.
