CMAC made a conscious decision several years ago to stop running tournaments within the organization. With the growing fad of mixed martial arts and UFC we know not all people are looking for competitive martial arts. Tournaments do not fall into our philosophy of our martial arts training. Unfortunately our state of society identifies itself to this concept of competition; of ‘winning’ at the cost of someone losing or ‘proving to be better’ than the other. We hope individuals, through their martial arts training, understand they are not learning the martial arts to prove they are better than other martial artists but they are learning to better themselves and achieve their personal best in all they do in everything life. “The ultimate aim of Karate lies not in defeat or victory, but in the perfection of the character of its participants.” -- Supreme Grand Master Gichin Funikoshi
